How did the online teaching enviroment influence your design decisions? |
Explain the design of the new activity using technology in relation to the TPACK framework.

I wanted the activities to be easily accessible and all in on place due to the online format. Using google slides helped me organize all the links and activities into in place. These activities could be done over a zoom call as a whole group or individually. I designed the slides to make it easier for parents to navigate if needed. I listed the directions on each page. Since I chose to do first grade I decided to do a virtual field trip to try and help keep the young learners engaged. The 360 videos can help with engagement as well allow students to move around in the videos. The other features such as the movement songs, reading corner, and math corner are to create a variance while still learning the material. I combined learning farm animals with tally's and graphs to scaffold of the knowledge farm animals and connect both science and math related activities.

I began by determining the topic I waned to teach. I then planned for how I was going to teach this material in an interactive online format. Field trips make for great hands on experiences which help keep young children engaged during the learning progress. I wanted to create a field trip in the most engaging way I could in an online format. Just viewing a video of a farm would not be beneficial for young learners. I researched and found the 360 degree tours on YouTube. It allowed the students to be in control of the video and view what they would like to look at. Close to an in person experience through online learning. I then decided to create more interactive tours so students could learn more about individual animals and what they do for us and the different types of farms. I added more 360 tours that students could choose to view. After the activity I had the students mark a tally of their favorite farm animal which will lead into the next topic of tally's and graphs. The students will complete and online activity that explains tally's and graphing and will then create their own graph.
