- Learning Experience: At the beginning of the lesson I would explain to the students that we will be planting our own seeds and watching them grow. Next I will explain that before we start we need to find out what plants need to grow. Then the students will be shown the video and asked what plants might need to grow from a seed to a sprout and a sprout to a plant.
- Outcome: Students will discuss and brainstorm the basic life needs of a plant.
- Big Picture: The students will compare the basic life needs of a plant and an animal.
Introduction Strategies: This introduction to the lesson uses the future usefulness introduction strategy by connecting the introduction to the students planting their own seeds at the end of the lesson. Scaffolding is also used by taking what the students knew about the topic and expanding upon that with a group discussion and with using the Venn diagram.
